4 Guys Fire Trucks

The Riva, MD, Volunteer Fire Company took delivery of a new 4 Guys pumper that’s mounted on a Spartan Gladiator LFD 10-inch raised-roof chassis. The rig is powered by a 500-hp Cummins X12 diesel engine. To fight fire, it has a 1,500-gpm Hale QMAX pump and a 1,000-gallon UPF water tank.

Boise Mobile Equipment

The Big Timber, MT, Volunteer Fire Department’s new custom Xtreme Tactical tender by BME Fire Trucks is mounted on an International HV507, 4x4, two-door chassis. To fight fire, it has a 1,250-gallon water tank, a 30-gallon foam tank, front bumper spray nozzles and an Akron Forestry Monitor. The rig has Rough Country scene lighting, Whelen emergency lighting, an FRC Seon Inview 360 camera system and a Kussmaul Auto Charge 1000 with Parasitic Load Compensation (PLC).

CET Fire Pumps

A CET rescue unit for the Madeira & Indian Hill, OH, Joint Fire District is built on a Ford F-450 chassis. The front transverse compartment has a dual-direction slide-out tray, and the rear compartment has a 1,000-lb. slide-out tray. The SCBA bottle storage is around the wheels. The rig has all-around scene lighting, Whelen emergency lights, a Whelen light bar and a battery charger that has an auto-ejection system.

Darley

Sheldon Community Fire and Rescue in Houston took delivery of four high-water-clearance CAFS pumpers from Darley. These vehicles allow the apparatus to negotiate and operate in flooded areas, whereas other fire apparatus might not be able to respond. The vehicles feature Darley’s PolyBilt Pumper-Rescue body style designs that have Integral Body/Tank Co-Polymer construction. This design allows the department to carry more equipment because of larger compartments and payload capacity without increasing the length or height of the apparatus.

E-ONE

The Phoenix Fire Department’s new E-ONE HR 100-foot ladder is powered by a 450-hp Cummins L9 engine and an Allison 3000 EVS transmission. It has an E-ONE Typhoon 58-inch extruded aluminum cab. The single-axle configuration is compact and maneuverable for tight streets, featuring crisscross underslung outriggers that have only an 11-foot spread, requiring little space to deploy. The rig has the ToughTruss ladder design, with a 500-lb. tip load (wet or dry), a pinnable monitor at the tip, full height driver and officer side compartments, and 138 feet of ground ladders.

Ferrara Fire Apparatus

A new Ferrara Inferno HD-100 rear mount platform for the New Chapel Fire Company in New Albany Township, IN, is powered by a 600-hp Cummins X15 engine. To fight fire, it has a 1,750-gpm Hale QMAX pump and a 400-gallon tank.  Built with an extruded aluminum cab and body, the vehicle provides seating for six, more than 250 cubic feet of compartment storage, an EZ-Stack hosebed for 1,000 feet of 5-inch large-diameter hose, and room for 150 feet of ground ladders. The aerial has a reach of 100 feet vertical/98 feet horizontal and a rated tip load of 1,250 lbs. dry or 500 lbs. flowing 2,000 gpm.

Fouts Bros

The San Juan, Puerto Rico, Fire Department took delivery of several Fouts Bros F.O.U.R. (First Out Utility Rescue) trucks that are built on Ford F-550 4x4 crew cab chassis. The trucks are powered by 450-hp, 6.7-liter diesel engines. To fight fire, the rigs have a 1,500-gpm Hale DSD pump. They also have three SCBA storage compartments, Amdor roll-up doors, a Warn winch and grille guard, a Whelen traffic advisor and a Whelen light package.

Horton Emergency Vehicles

A new ambulance from Horton Emergency Vehicles for the Clearcreek Fire District in Springboro, OH,  has several Horton innovations, including CoolTech I–4 smart fan technology, which includes a 100,000-BTU condenser in the recessed pocket in the roof of the body; the I4G Intelliplex electrical system, which serves as the central command for the ambulance; the Vi-Tech Mounting System, which provides for less vibration, better handling and more strength for smoother, quieter runs; and the Horton Occupant Protection System (HOPS), which includes air bags, a Per4Max retractable seatbelt harness system and progressive multilayered foam at the head-strike points.

KME Fire Apparatus

The Linglestown, PA, Fire Company #1’s new KME AerialCat Steel Safe 102-foot Midmount Platform is built on a KME Severe Service chassis. The vehicle is powered by a 600-hp Cummins X15 engine and an Allison 4000 EVS transmission. A 2,000-gpm Waterous S100 pump and a 300-gallon tank are included to fight fire. The apparatus flows 2,000 gpm through its dual Elkhart monitors. The truck carries more than 220 feet of ground ladders.

Lake Assault Boats

This is the fourth Lake Assault Boats craft that now is on duty with the San Bernardino County, CA, Fire Protection District. It responds to wildland and structure fires, watercraft emergencies and medical emergencies on Lake Havasu and portions of the Colorado River. Fireboat 18 is outfitted with twin 300-hp outboard engines, which are controlled through a one-touch Joystick Piloting system. The craft sports a T-top pilothouse, dual dive doors and a hydraulically operated bow door. The craft features a 1,500-gpm Darley fire pump, a TFT Typhoon monitor, stainless steel plumbing and twin Garmin touchscreens that control a full suite of electronics.

Marion Body Works

The Bethany, CT, Volunteer Fire Department took delivery of a custom Marion Rescue Pumper that’s mounted on a Spartan Gladiator Chassis that has a 10-inch raised roof. The apparatus is powered by a 450-hp Cummins L9 engine. To fight fire, it has a 2,000-gpm QMAX Hale SAM system pump and a 900-gallon water tank.

Midwest Fire

The South Plattsburgh, NY, Fire Department’s new custom Midwest Fire tanker-pumper is mounted on a Freightliner 114SD chassis. The rig is powered by a 450-hp Cummins L9 engine and an Allison 3000 EVS transmission. To fight fire, it has a 1,000-gpm Hale MBP PTO-driven pump and a 3,000-gallon All-Poly tank. The tanker-pumper has a Whelen freedom light bar, Newton stainless-steel electric dump valves and a Zico electric drop tank carrier.

Pierce Manufacturing

The Providence, RI, Fire Department took delivery of eight custom Pierce fire apparatus that were sold through Allegiance Fire & Rescue. Four 100-foot heavy-duty steel aerial ladders are the very first of their configuration. They have a 12-foot overall jack spread with short jack capability, 18-foot ground penetration for easy setup on city hills, a low overall height of 10 feet 11 inches and a length of slightly more than 39 feet. The rigs have removable and washable seat covers, diamond-plate floors and Line-X covers that follow a clean cab concept. Four Saber pumpers include low hosebeds and crosslays, short overall length (29 feet), angled front and rear bumpers and an LED emergency lighting system that includes Hi-Viz scene lighting.

Rosenbauer America

A custom Rosenbauer 6x6 PANTHER aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) vehicle for the Voisey’s Bay Emergency Response Team in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, is powered by a 700-hp Volvo Penta D16 engine. The apparatus, which is staffed by Vale Base Metal employees, will be utilized to safeguard Vale's mining operations in its remote northern Canadian mine sites. The rig disperses 9,000 liters of water/foam per minute and has the capability to extinguish a fire considerably faster than standard over-the-road structural trucks that are used at most mining operations do. The Volvo Penta engine is compliant with the latest Tier 4 Final emission standards.

Skeeter Brush Trucks

The Flower Mound, TX, Fire Department’s new Type 5 Rescue-Side apparatus from Skeeter Brush Trucks is mounted on a RAM 5500 4x4 chassis. The rig is equipped with Skeeter’s exclusive 6-inch suspension lift that is engineered specifically for wildland firefighting applications on a super single conversion. Off-road recovery is made possible with a 12,000-lb. Warn winch that’s mounted in the signature Skeeter front bumper. With more than 100 cubic feet of storage space, including a transverse forward compartment, the all-aluminum body surrounds a 400-gallon tank and Darley 2BE 18V pump, which supplies a custom-fabricated manifold.

Smeal

The Hamburg, NY, Volunteer Fire Department took delivery of a new 100-foot rear mount platform that’s built on a Spartan Gladiator chassis. It’s powered by a 600-hp Cummins X15 engine. To fight fire, the truck has a 2,000-gpm Hale QMAX XS pump and a 300-gallon water tank. The rig has AL-11 turntable controls and bi-fold platform doors that allow easy entry and egress from the platform.

Spartan Emergency Response

Four new ladder tower 100-foot tractor-drawn aerials for the Philadelphia Fire Department are built on Spartan Metro Star chassis. They are powered by a 500-hp Cummins X12 engine. The trucks are configured with a short overall length of 55 feet 6 inches for increased maneuverability and a low overall height of 11 feet 3 inches for maximum tillerman cab visibility. The rigs also have a short 14-foot outrigger spread, 500-lb. dry/250-lb. wet ladder tip load, 300 feet of ground ladders and generous compartment storage.

Summit Fire Apparatus

The Uniondale, IN, Volunteer Fire Department’s new commercial top-mount, 1,000-gallon rescue pumper from Summit Fire Apparatus is mounted on a Freightliner M-2 chassis. This rig is powered by a Cummins 300 engine. To fight fire, it has a 1,250-gpm Waterous top-mount pump and two stacked speedlay hosebeds that are behind the cab. It has full-depth side compartments, an extended front bumper that has a 6-inch suction and a 2-inch trash line. The 200-lb.-capacity, air-operated, floor dry hopper is in one of the hinged roof-top coffin compartments.

Sutphen

A no-pump, no-tank configuration on a 100-foot, mid-mount aerial platform enables departments to reallocate space and create a truck particularly designed for their needs. Coweta County Fire Rescue in Newnan, GA, decided to nix their SPH 100’s pump and tank and instead go to work with more than 193 feet of ground ladders. In addition to speccing this as a true truck company, the department maximized its mid-mount aerial platform’s turning radius and overall maneuverability by choosing a 230-inch wheelbase, which Sutphen says leads the industry.

SVI Trucks

Miami-Dade, FL, Fire Rescue took delivery of an SVI Trucks 26-foot heavy rescue and a 28-foot technical rescue hazmat (shown). Both feature stainless-steel bodies and walk-in designs and ride on a Sutphen chassis that has a 500-hp Cummins X12 engine. Both apparatus have an Onan generator, a flush-mounted awning, a Command Light CL Series light tower and OnScene Solutions LED compartment lighting. The heavy rescue has SCUBA tank brackets. The technical rescue has dual Samsung 24-inch LED displays, a Norcold refrigerator and a Bosch dual-thermal camera on a Will-Burt telescoping mast.

Unruh Fire

The Village of San Jon, NM, Fire Department’s new Unruh Fire truck is mounted on a 6x6 Freightliner SD108 chassis. To fight fire, it has a 1,200-gallon tank, ditch sweeps, a front turret and a 250-gpm pump. The custom Unruh Fire body was built with ergonomics, safety and reliability in mind.
