Officials said the crew was repositioning the Plumsteadville VFC aerial ladder when it flipped over and landed on the roadway adjacent to the station.

An aerial platform tipped over as it was being repositioned late Memorial Day morning in Plumstead Township.

The accident happened in a parking at the Plumsteadville Volunteer Fire Company's Station 20 on Ferry Road around 11:30 a.m.

Officials told 6abc.com the crew went to reposition the truck as it displayed an American flag along Route 611 when it tipped over.

Helicopter footage from the television station showed the ladder laying across three lanes with two sections of the aerial free of the main section. The flag was wrapped around the last section of the aerial and bucket.

According to the fire department's website, Tower 24 is a 1998 Pierce Arrow.

Officials said the ladder struck one car.
