Passaic, NJ, Feb. 1, 2017—The Passaic Fire Department responded to a four-alarm fire in a 2½-story frame dwelling. Interior crews reported high heat and zero visibility, and were unable to locate the seat of the fire in the basement due to it being divided into numerous rooms. A request was made to the local gas and electric company due to live wires coming down in the area, forcing crews to quickly relocate. As fire stretch to all floors of the original structure and extended into exposure B, all crews were evacuated from both buildings. One ladder pipe, one deck gun, two blitzfires and numerous handlines were put into operation. Companies were successful in keeping the fire from extending to exposure D.
