A Louisville fire engine crashed and struck a pole before hitting an apartment building early Saturday while responding to a call.
One of the firefighters was transported to University Hospital with non- life- threatening injuries, according to WAVE-TV.
The crash caused significant damage to the fire engine, including cab structure.
The balcony structure of the apartment was destroyed, the station reported.
"We don't have any indication of what may have occurred that caused him to leave the roadway," Louisville Fire Chief Greg Frederick told the news station.
"Potentially we're looking at things like, is there an issue with medication or fatigue or any of those type of factors."
Frederick also said a thorough investigation will be done at the scene, along with a medical evaluation to make sure the firefighters involved were fit for duty.
