FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. --
Frederick County fire officials worked through difficult conditions Monday to battle a trailer fire in the Keymar area.
The fire broke out shortly after 5 p.m. Monday at a trailer in the 12000 block of Keymar Road, said Sky Team 11 Capt. Roy Taylor. Video showed that the home was engulfed in flames.
Taylor reported that firefighters had a difficult time fighting the fire because of the lack of fire hydrants in the area, forcing crews to truck water in.
He said they also had to deal with downed electric lines.
The fire was put out at about 5:45 p.m.
Taylor said that a bystander reported possibly seeing three children inside the home, but fire crews searched the house twice and no one was found. However, firefighters said eight pets died in the fire.
Fire crews said one firefighter suffered minor burns and was taken to a hospital.
Fire investigators are still trying to determine a cause.
The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the family.
