North Las Vegas firefighters rescued a couple from a burning home on Nov. 16.
North Las Vegas firefighters rescued a couple from a burning home on Nov. 16, according to a department press release.

Crews responded to the single-story, single-family dwelling on 4433 Summer Glen Lane at approximately 10:23 p.m. and found heavy flames and smoke coming from the front door.

Upon arrival, an occupant was found lodged in a front window and his wife was attempting to free him as the fire continued to grow.

Firefighter made entry into the blaze and rescued the couple before knocking down the flames.

Three children were found standing outside the front door.

Crews ventilated the home in order dissipate heat and smoke from the structure and the main fire was then extinguished within nine minutes of arrival.

There were no injuries to firefighters, but all five members of the family were transported to UMC by two fire ambulances and one Medic West ambulance.

The two adults suffered smoke inhalation and minor burns while the three children were transported to be evaluated for smoke inhalation.

The fire took just over an hour to completely contain and the structure was determined to be a total loss.

The fire remains under investigation.
