Off-Duty Iowa FF Freed From Trench

An off-duty Charles City firefighter needed to be rescued after he became trapped in a trench collapse yesterday afternoon, according to KIMT-TV.Assistant Fire Chief David Boehmer was working on a new home on his property on Riverside Drive when he became buried up to his armpits in soil.His colleagues were called to the scene at approximately 4:16 p.m. and it took them about 25 minutes to free him.

Assistant Fire Chief David Boehmer was working on a new home on his property on Riverside Drive when he became buried up to his armpits in soil.

His colleagues were called to the scene at approximately 4:16 p.m. and it took them about 25 minutes to free him.

Boehmer was transported to Floyd County Medical Center before being transferred to Mercy Medical Center North Iowa and then finally sent to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester

He was listed in stable condition as of last night, according to the report.
