LOUISVILLE, Ky. --
Local firefighters will soon be getting a little more money in their paychecks.
Late Friday afternoon, city leaders and the firefighters reached a deal on state incentive pay for training.
According to Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson representative Kerri Richardson, the city had suspended that incentive pay last fall because metro government had additional costs to pay it.
However, Richardson said the state is now covering all the cost of paying the incentive money. It will start appearing on firefighters next paychecks.
Richardson said the city will also pay the incentive money retroactively to last fall, but how and when that retroactive incentive money will be paid hasn't been determined yet.
The city and firefighters are still battling in court over millions of dollars in back overtime money.
