SAN ANTONIO --

An investigation was under way Thursday into a fire that heavily gutted a popular nightclub that was under renovation.

Firefighters arrived at 11 p.m. Wednesday to find the Roaring 20s, in the 14000 block of Old Blanco Road, fully engulfed in flames.

A caretaker who was in the 15,000-square-foot building at the time made it out safely, but a firefighter was treated at the scene for heat exhaustion.

The use of ladders helped firefighters extinguish the blaze fairly quickly.

Arson is investigating since the fire appears to be suspicious, fire officials said.
