Firefighters were on scene of an abandoned building fire just west of the airport at the old Navy training annex early Friday morning. Firefighters said the fire is definitely suspicious.
Firefighters said a building caught on fire just after 3:00 Friday morning. The buildings are training facilities used by Orlando fireifighters and police officers. Years ago it used to be naval housing.
No one was inside at the time and no one was hurt.
Firefighters said that a sheriff's helicopter spotted one of the buildings on fire from the air. That's when crews were rushed to the scene.
Firefighters think a homeless person might have started the fire. Even though the area is locked by gates, it's known for many homeless people staying there.
Firefighters are monitoring the situation Friday morning, even though the fire was completely out. They're expecting a bulldozer to come in sometime Friday to tear down the building that burned so it doesn't become a safety hazard.
