Randolph Fire Chief Charles Foley was suspended for 15 days over his comments and behavior following a deadly fire in May. Two boys were killed when flames ripped through their home.
The chief blamed staffing and budget shortfalls for problems on the day of the fire.
Team 5 Investigates first reported the chief's statements were misleading and showed how Foley failed to fill two positions.
Team 5 also uncovered more than $100,000 in overtime money that could have been spent on extra staff.
A three-day disciplinary hearing confirmed Foley also pushed one member of the board the day of the fire.
The hearing officer wrote in his report that Foley did make inappropriate, inaccurate, intemperate and misleading statements to the news media.
He said that such comments have a potential for eroding public confidence in fire protection services.
Foley's suspension begins Sept. 15. Randolph is in the process of hiring two new firefighters.
