The blaze claimed the life of a University of Maryland student.

A former University of Maryland student who set a fatal fire will spend a long time in jail.

Daniel Murray received a life sentence with all but 37 ½ years suspended, which means about 25 years of real time.

Murray admitted that he started the off-campus house fire that killed 22-year-old Michael Scrocca in April 2005.

A co-worker told police Murray was angry about something that happened at the house a few hours before the fire.
