Texas Firefighter To Remain Hospitalized

Dec. 6, 2005
About 21 percent of his body was burnt from a wildfire

Cameron Gardens firefighter Dwight Murphy will not be leaving Parkland hospital`s ICU any time soon. His wife says he has developed pneumonia since he was admitted. She also says he will begin receiving skin grafts next week.

Officials say the volunteer firefighter was burned when winds caused the flames to spread in several directions. Chief Richard Harmon says Murphy was not wearing his bunker coat while fighting the fire.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.

An account to help Murphy`s family with medical expenses has been set up at Union Square Credit Union.
