Six Year Old Injured In Camden Rowhouse Fire Dies

A 6-year-old boy who was one of nine people injured in a fire Friday morning has died, authorities said.

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) -- A 6-year-old boy who was one of nine people injured in a fire Friday morning has died, authorities said.

Carlos Cruz died early Sunday morning at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, Pa. The other eight victims, a group that ranges in age from 9 to 44 and includes the boy's parents and two sisters, remained in critical condition at the same hospital.

The fire in the 900 block of North 22nd Street broke out early Friday morning. Firefighters were summoned by a neighbor who placed a 911 call shortly before 5 a.m.

The victims were taken first to Cooper University Hospital and then to the burn unit at Crozier-Chester.

The fire is still under investigation by city, county and state authorities.
