Jan. 18--A critically injured woman was pulled from a blazing house by firefighters yesterday in Marysville.

The woman's name had not been released by late last night. Marysville Fire Chief Jay Riley said that the woman, in her 30s, was taken to Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.

The state fire marshal's office was investigating because the fire was suspicious, Riley said.

The woman called 911 about 1:10 p.m. and said her house was on fire and that she was trapped. Fire crews were there in a matter of minutes, but the house at 712 W. 5th St. was already fully engulfed.

"It spread so quickly that we have questions," Riley said.

The chief credited police dispatchers with keeping the woman on the phone line. She told a dispatcher she was in the back of the two-story home. When firefighters arrived, they could hear her inside, but before they could reach her, she had collapsed.

Because the phone line remained open, dispatchers could hear the firefighters in the house and direct Riley and his crew to where the woman was.

Firefighters pulled her from the flames, Riley said.

No one else was home at the time. A neighbor was treated for smoke inhalation.

Two dogs were hurt.

Riley said it's too soon to tell what might have happened.
