“The second and third floors were nothing but a fireball,” Manville Fire Chief Robert Bradley said.

A Lincoln woman suffered a severe leg injury after jumping from a third-floor window to escape a roaring fire Monday afternoon.

“The second and third floors were nothing but a fireball,” Manville Fire Chief Robert Bradley told WPRI.

George Moussa, a neighbor, said he knew he had to help when he saw a woman hanging about halfiway out of the window.

“We held a mattress up and told her, ‘Jump, don’t worry we’ll catch you. I had no other thoughts in my mind other than to help her get down,” he said.

Two other residents on the second floor suffered minor burns, the chief said.

The cause of the fire that was visible throughout the area remains under investigation.
