A dog was rescued after a crash Tuesday morning on Interstate 95 early pitched the animal over the side of an overpass.
Two vehicles crashed about 2 a.m. on an overpass just north of state Road 207. The dog, Oscar, was inside a carrier in the bed of a pickup truck when the impact threw it out of the vehicle, off the side of the overpass and onto railroad tracks below.
After a 45-minute search, St. Johns County Fire Rescue personnel found the red bulldog. Oscar suffered a broken right front paw and broken right rear leg. No one in the vehicles was injured.

Fire Rescue strapped Oscar to a board and carried him up the embankment. St. Johns County Animal Control arrived and tried to keep the dog from going into shock, then took Oscar to a vet for treatment of his broken bones.
