April 25, 2025
Rescue crews from Minneapolis and St. Paul worked for six hours to free the man trapped by sand.
Minneapolis and St. Paul firefighters and rescue technicians put their skills to the test when a worker got stuck in a hole.

The victim was trapped in sand just above the waist in the 14-foot hole. As crews used a street department vacuum to suction the sand, others worked to stablized the walls to prevent further collapse.

EMS crews from Hennepin County monitored the victim's condition during the six-hour operation, according to Minneapolis Councilman Jason Chavez.

After being extricated, he walked to a waiting ambulance that took him to a hospital for treatment.
