Woman, Dog Rescued from RI Ravine

Sept. 28, 2023
Crews from Blackstone, North Smithfield and others worked together to perform the operation.

Firefighters including technical rescue crews rescued a woman and her dog from a ravine in Blackstone on Wednesday.

She was unable to get out of the area after she went to help her dog who had fallen into the ravine, WPRI reported.

After she got stuck, she called her mother, who then called 9-1-1.

Firefighters rigged a rope system and placed her in a Stokes basket for the trip up. She suffered a leg injury but will be OK.

The dog wasn't hurt.
