Nov. 5, 2024
The man told Little Rock firefighters he went into the system to seek shelter and became trapped.

There are six manholes for ditch drainage on South University.

On Sunday, Little Rock firefighters received a call that a man had been trapped in one for three days, KARK reported.

Capt. Doug Coffman said the man had tied blankets together to lower himself down. But, after one became untied, he couldn't reach the others to climb out.

Firefighters lowered the ladder to him and he climbed out. Despite being trapped 20 feet below the ground for days, he was not hurt.

North Little Rock crews were called to assist with the operation.
