Vector Solutions Announces Occupational Cancer in the Fire Service Webinar
SAN DIEGO - (Nov. 23, 2021) - Vector Solutions, the industry leader of training, operational, risk, and workforce management software solutions for the fire service, is hosting a special interactive virtual event, Occupational Cancer in the Fire Service: Prevention Strategies and the Role of Early Detection, on Thursday, Dec. 9 at 11 a.m. (PST).
Cancer is a leading cause of death among firefighters. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) reported firefighters face a 9 percent increase in cancer diagnoses and a 14 percent increase in cancer-related deaths compared to the general population. During this important discussion exploring the impact of occupational cancer on firefighters on Dec. 9, Chief Todd LeDuc (Ret.), Chief Strategy Officer for Life Scan Wellness Centers will cover firefighter occupational risks, the latest research, best practices for prevention, and why early detection in annual physicals is important. Chief LeDuc will be joined by cancer survivor Sean Ryan of Albemarle County Fire Rescue (VA), who will share his story, and Bryan Frieders, President of the Firefighter Cancer Support Network (FCSN), who will discuss FCSN's commitment to supporting firefighters diagnosed with cancer and their families.
