Cal Fire firefighter Brandon Feller was hospitalized July 5 with severe burns to his face suffered during the Klamathon Fire in Siskiyou County.

A firefighter is home recovering after being hospitalized with severe burns to his face suffered while battling a wildfire in Northern California last week.

The Redding Record Searchlight reports that Cal Fire firefighter Brandon Feller was on the fire line Thursday during efforts to contain the Klamathon Fire in Siskiyou County when flames burned over his engine.

Feller was taken to the ICU Burn Center at UC Davis in Sacramento to receive treatment.

Phil Anzo, Cal Fire's Siskiyou Unit chief and Siskiyou County fire warden, said Feller's "spirits are high" upon his release from the hospital Saturday.

"He's getting a lot of support from the unit and fire personnel, the burn foundation and the Wildland Firefighter Foundation," Anzo said. "There's a lot of family support and love for him."

A GoFundMe page was set up to help Feller make up for his lost wages and had gone more than $3,000 over its goal of $25,000 by Sunday morning.

Feller's family has asked that any future donations be made to the Firefighter's Burn Institute.
