Structural Firefighting Boot
HAIX has introduced the Fire Hero Xtreme boot for structural firefighting. Two years in development, the boot is certified to NFPA 1971-2007 and NFPA 1992-2008. It is constructed with HAIX’s new Sun Reflect leather that reduces the heating effect of the leather by direct sunlight while at the same time providing leather that is water resistant and breathable. The boot’s lower 11-inch profile offers an alternate fit for those who are not comfortable wearing a taller 14-inch boot. The new Water Ice Grip System built into the sole ensures extreme slip resistance and optimal performance in water, ice or snow. The Easy Slip Out System is designed with an integrated boot jack for easy and convenient removal of the boot. The CROSSTECH inner liner features the HAIX Secura Liner that will not pull out or wrinkle over time and offers additional protection from chemicals and body fluids.

Flame Detector
MSA has introduced the FlameGard 5 MSIR detector, a multi-spectral infrared detector that features breakthrough neural network intelligence for reliable discrimination between actual flames and nuisance false alarm sources and designed to provide superior false-alarm immunity with the widest field of view. The detector employs a state-of-the-art multi-spectrum infrared (MSIR) sensor array with a sophisticated Neural Network Technology (NNT) system. Designed to detect typical fires such as those produced by alcohol, n-heptane, gasoline, jet fuels and hydrocarbons, the detector can see through dense smoke produced by diesel, rubber, plastics, lube oil and crude oil fires. The NNT flame discrimination algorithm classifies the output signals from the MSIR sensor array as either fire or non-fire. This MSIR/NNT combination is highly immune to false alarms caused by lightning, arc-welding, hot objects and other sources of radiation. The electronics of the detector are housed in a stainless-steel, explosion-proof enclosure.
