Juveniles Take CA Ambulance for Joyride During Call

A group of juveniles jumped out of a Sacramento ambulance after driving off with the vehicle while firefighters were responding to a medical emergency.

A group of juveniles took a California ambulance for a joyride during a call Monday.

Sacramento firefighters were responding to a medical emergency just after 8 p.m. when as many as three juveniles got into the ambulance while the engine was still running, KCRA-TV reports. The juveniles then began driving away before jumping from the slow-moving vehicle.

As the ambulance was rolling down the street, a passerby got inside and stopped the vehicle. The ambulance wasn't damaged and no one was injured during the incident.

During calls, crews will keep an ambulance running so that the inside of the vehicle will be a comfortable temperature for patients. The driver usually stays with the ambulance, but they might need to leave the vehicle depending on the call.

The joyride didn't delay response times or compromise patient care, according to KCRA. Police are investigating the incident.
