The driver who struck a Mecklenburg EMS Agency--Medic ambulance is facing multiple charges.
The two EMS providers who were working on a patient in the back of the rig are recuperating at home, according to WCNC.
Brian Ogbonna ran a red light and his vehicle hit the ambulance which was stopped while medics worked on a patient. The impact flipped the rig onto its side.
Ogbonna will be charged with felony failure to move over and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, the station reported.
The EMS agency said in a prepared statement: Medic's crew was discharged & are at home recovering. Our thoughts are with all involved. We are extremely grateful for those who responded on scene, including our own."
The original patient also was injured in the Friday morning wreck.
