Feb. 11, 2022
An irate man forced his way into a Lauderhill ambulance and while he was backing up, firefighters stopped the vehicle and pulled the man from the cab.

A man was arrested after trying to carjack an ambulance from a Lauderhill fire station Tuesday night.

Fire officials said Freddie Joseph Ross, 31, climbed a fence surrounding the station and ran toward the ambulance that had just returned from a call.

Ross, who was acting aggressive toward the firefighters, was able to get into the driver's side of the cab forcing the firefighters to escape, according to NBC Miami.

He was able to get the ambulance moving and that's when firefighter's jumped on the ambulance and were able to pull Ross from the unit and detain him until police arrived.

The man was arrested and taken to the hospital and, fire officials said, the ambulance was placed back in service.
